He finally decided  what  he wanted to fight with…..bow and arrow…..

I can spin rather thin.

I often choose the Navaho/Navajo plying, because I like a 3 ply yarn.
Now I wondered if I could  do this  with two singles?
I gave it a try……

I crochet the two singles at the same time and the final result will be a 6 ply.

As you can see it is possible. When I took the yarn of my skein winder it twirled to the left a lot.
To much ply! I unplyed it  a little in the spin direction and now it looked and felt better.
It did twirl a little to the right though, but not as much as it did at first to the left.
I am content. It still is a very thin yarn, but it was a nice experiment and a lot of spinning 🙂

I unravelled my husband’s sweater. The colour of the yarn was whitish and we decided to darken it.  Choosing the colour wasn’t easy, but finally purple it would be.
I added some  black to the dye bath to soften the purple a little and the dyeing process was started.
However I didn’t give the water (with added black dye) a proper stir  and the final result was two skeins with black parts. That didn’t make me happy 🙁

How would it show? I knitted a sample and well it wasn’t that bad.So now I had to dye all other skeins with some black too. It was a huge job.  First I stamped
the black dye into the yarn, then wrapped each skein in cling film and put it on steam.
Fingers crossed that I did the right thing….
Next step is to find me a nice knitting pattern

I made this Troll during a workshop given by Alexandra
It was a very busy day, because it was hard work to finish ‘him’ in time,
but we succeeded and………..we had so much fun!!!!
Now it is time he earns his living.
