I had a lot of yarn.  Six balls each 50 gr. and each ball was approximately 400 m. / Lana Grossa: Lace Merino Print, 100% Merino Extrafine.

tuniekAs I am looking at the photo it is really very long. Maybe I will ad a photo of it when I am wearing it. I am not small but neither am I a giant.

In the meantime at the backside there was a huge hole from a screw in my loom (was very busy climbing in and out of it). But that was easy to repair because of my knitting ‘top-down’.
I was able to adjust the seam at the same time. I lengthened the pattern.

This mosaic weaving was on my ‘todo’ list for several years.

It was about time to get started……
Thin threads are my favorite and I like bright colours.

The length of the warp is for three shawls.
It was a joy to use my warping wheel again.
(Winding and beaming the warp)
Twelve threads per cm…..enough or to few….time will tell.

The design with the different brown hues and white, is choosen by intuition.
It’s a plain weave. I like shawls to complete my outfit.
This one is for spring.

My 10 colour shawl is finished….

At the moment I am knitting a shawl, a sweater and socks.

This shawl I started yesterday!

A sweater…from recycled yarn
Toe up socks from a sock blank named  ‘stripes’

Knitting was a joy. No thinking was needed…just knit….
Winter may come now!

I finished number two……

Today was the last session. This workshop was hard work, but very rewarding.
The technique was developed and copywrited by my tutor Marian Stubenitsky.
It really is amazing …..
A challenge it was. Step by step the pattern showed.
It is hard to catch the iridescent effect by photo.
The weft colour is petrol.

Yes, I finished Janneke’s shawl.

Shopping, I saw these wonderful colours! I added the package of 4 balls to my shopping trolley. But then I thought of my stash. No, no, no… you are not going to buy it. I laid them back.
I decided: next time when they are still there, then you have to take them with you. It will be a sign and it has to be.
However, approaching  the pay desk I thought, but I can use it for weaving too. I ran back…….

Coming home with my treasure my youngest daughter was so enthusiastic, that I couldn’t resist.
I am knitting for her, because she is addicted to shawls.

Next time shopping  I selected another 4 of these balls and 2 packages with other colours for my daughter.
She will drown in her shawls 🙂
