…here is my cardigan without sleaves. Ann Budd’s book is an eye opener.
At first it felt like thinking upside down.
When I didn’t quite understand how to continue, I visited her group on Raverlry and asked for help.

I had to finish the borders and it took me a long time to decide what colour.
Finally I choose brick-red and dyed my home spun yarn (I am not sure, but I think it was Bleu du Maine).
I made two hues, light and dark and used them both.
However when it was finished, I thought, what a pity I can’t wear it on both sides! There is no seam…
…but the edges weren’t that nice on the purl side.
After deep thinking I undid one armhole and crochetted the first row, then I started knitting.

During the Annual Spinning Day in 2013 all members got a small bag with tops.
Four different combinations of colours, called: summer-autumn-winter and spring.
I spun it in a special rhythm.
After each part of a season I added dark alpaca. I plied the single with grey cria alpaca
……and I bought this book:
I am a little late with updating my website. It is all about winter….nevertheless here they are….
The first time….. a sock with a special pattern…Nice to do….
and after weeks……and weeks…I did finish them….

It took some time, but here they are….
After knitting 6 pairs of hosetops for new members of
The Highland Regiment , I had enough…..
However…from time to time… 😉

Last Sunday I dyed these ‘future socks’ !

The big question now is….what will the socks look like!
I did it! Today I finished my poncho!
My sister-in-law permitted me to use the model of her poncho. So nice of her! Thank you Loeska 😉
The first time I saw her wearing it, I envied her, you know 🙂
The colours are different though.
Turquoise and purple are my favorite colours and I used red to brighten it up, but I already mentioned
that in one of my previous blogposts.
The fringes form a nice band at the bottom….(the way I braided them)…. I think 😉
The collar is knitted separately and sewed with the machine to the neck-piece
These socks were baptized by Alexandra with the name…’Halloween’ socks 😉
It is so surprising, knitting with the yarn of a dyed sockblank.
Thanks for the idea of the black band at one side of the sockblank Meta…..it looks great!
I have been busy making a warp for my poncho.
The yarn I intended to use was very thin, compared to my own spun weft.
What to do….I decided to make a cabled yarn. I had never done that…..a real challenge it was.
Then I dyed the yarn and now I am threading the loom. First step done……
I knitted my own sockblank. I used needle nr. 6, 2 threads and 40 stitches.
A friend and member of my knitting and spinning group adviced me to dye this sockblank with a black band at one side…..
After washing the blank was undone again…..
…..and now I am busy knitting two identical socks, with my own dyed colour pattern.
My friend was right, the repetition of the colour black gives a very nice effect.
Well it took some time but here it is……the winter outfit for little Monkie !
It was knitted with sock yarn.
The coat was white, but after finishing, dyed under supervision of Lucas
(with the voice of ‘MonTie’ :-))
The hood is knitted as the heel of a sock and it fits perfectly.
Socks and mittens are knitted as hands and feet of the original ‘Jacob’ pattern,
but 1 needle size bigger.
I finished the spinning of this ‘new blend’ several months ago! Dyeing was the second step.
Purple and turquoise are favorite colours of mine. The red is to brighten it up ;-)!!
I will weave the poncho and these skeins are for the weft.
The warp, I will dye the same and while weaving the same colours will find each other or mix!
A bit like this shawl….
…now all three fibers are carded together: wool, silk and viscose. It feels good, it looks good.
In time I can show a nice yarn, I hope….
Well I did it. I prepared the dye pot for the third time.
I calculated the amount of water, salt, dye and soda for 20 gram viscose.
The colour is ‘bright red’. It stayed in the dye for about 14 hours.
The last minutes in the dye bath.
As you can see the water shows a purple-blue colour…no red anymore.

Again we received a package on the annual spinning day….
….including: Brazillian wool-tussah silk-viscose and 2 grams of acid dye. 
I was anxious to start, because of the dye ’emerald green’.
I prepared the dye pot! The wool and silk went fine, but the viscose ……
That ought not to be a surprise, because it was a plant fiber.
I tried it again.This time I used soda ash to fix the dye, instead of vinegar!
It looked very promising, but when rinsing, the dye disappeared into the sink.
Next step….using Procion MX. It is a dye for plant fibers (viscose, cotton, hemp etc.)
I want to succeed!
I started to knit a bolero from the dyed leftover Jacob Humbug / Alpaca yarn.
The pattern is from ‘Drops Design’ Fingers crossed!
After finishing we really thought the sweater looked rather dull. We decided to add turquoise to brighten it up and the dye-pot was heated….
It was hard to catch the right colour with the camera. In reality it shows much, much nicer….
and the combination with the dark colour is beautiful.
Maybe the close-up will give a better impression!
After finishing my husband’s sweater, there was still a reasonable amount of yarn left.
Enough to knit something, but some colour would be nice.
I decided to rainbow dye this leftover and used turquoise / golden yellow / bright red
and a touch of black.
